Hotrod,
Nice visuals and write ups there. I think what happened is that the 335 had traction control intervention issues when he first started the launch from 2nd gear roll. The M3 owner is my friend and he only has a K&N drop-in and he added a resonator to the other pipe on his exhaust.
You can tell that once the 335 started to walk (had to catch up and we know how hard it is to catch up once you're behind), he started to walk pretty hard and it just got harder and harder. I think if the 335 had a good start, it would have been twice as worse but he fell behind and still reeled the M3 in.
Here's my take: I think that M3 is a factory freak -- if at all possible. I have custom exhaust with 2.5'' piping behind the O2 sensor, secondary cat delete, resonator delete, Magnaflow X pipe, Magnaflow mufflers, and 3.5'' Magnaflow tip. I can walk the M3 up to 60-70 mph and then he starts to catch me and passes me by 110-120 and keeps walking and until we back off at 130 where he is a few CL up. I am stock besides exhaust. I have JBS2 coming in and hopefully that will give me good gains on top of my exhaust because I have exhaust. I will film some runs once I get the JBS2 installed and adapted.
The one thing he has going for him is that he is really good at driving the SMG and shifts it perfectly in S6 and sport button on.
I just did some runs with my friend and his E90 335 and by 120 I am about a CL ahead. Good for maybe 10 whp for my exhaust? We'll see what JB will give me.
