This is very easy to do. I've done this exact upgrade to my E90 325i. It came factory equipped with Halogen headlights.

When you say 'they should be OK manual' do you mean you're ok with manual headlight leveling? I have no experience, however I've heard that the euro E9X models equipped with halogen headlights have a dial on the headlight switch to manually adjust the beam height. US cars don't have this option. From what I've read, all of the xenon-equipped E90s have automatic headlight leveling, with one sensor on a front control arm and one sensor on a rear control arm.

When I added the xenon lights to my 325i I disabled the automatic leveling function, however it's very easy to add the leveling sensors and add the wires from the sensors up to the connector on the footwell module (FRM.)

One thing to keep in mind when you're adding xenon lights is that if you wish to retain factory high beam behavior, you'll need to install a new wire to an connector on the FRM to each of the headlight connectors to activate the xenon shutter. You'll also need a new FRM for Xenon-equipped cars in order to code the function properly.

It's possible to make some modifications inside the headlight housing itself and have high beams function, but for OEM-equivalent functionality (inner halogen beams work as flash to pass when you pull on the turn signal stalk, xenon shutters raise when you push forward on the turn signal stalk) you'll need a xenon FRM and add the shutter wires.
