I'm like 99% percent sure those two grills/vents are intake inlets.. On N55 M2, there was an intake horn, running from the airbox to behind the headlights - which is arguably the coolest section under the engine bay.

The G87 headlight adjacent intake inlets seem to be an expansion of this concept, which is some clever engineering, catering to an audience where constant endurance is necessary

Hopefully, it comes out looking somewhat purposeful and classy, like what they pulled off with the M2 CS bumper inlets..
Which actually deceptively turned out to be brake cooling ducts and not intake openings but aesthetic palatable nonetheless.

If we can't get a new headlight, that'd be a badass compromise. Something about esthetically pleasing and functional vents…
