The ots tunes as long as you're running what fuel the tune is for is 100% fine and your mods have nothing to do with anything. These cars have a wideband 02 sensor and it allows to computer to adjust for a preset air fuel ratio. Even the stock tune adjusts for the intake and downpipes etc. The idea that because you didn't have a custom tune done is by and large completely false..
Now when you get into large turbos you have issues with boost control sometimes and different throttle positions etc and will likely need a tune. Now for a stage 1 type it will run fine on a ots map etc.
You just had bad luck man.. it sucks. May as well grab a used oem from someone who's upgraded already or upgrade yourself. Good luck.
