'24 M240i - No WiFi Hotspot Capability
While not a huge issue, I was disappointed that my new M240i did not have WiFi Hotspot capability. By now I would have thought it a standard convenience - but NO! The iDrive system has the app for connecting, the wireless setup shows a BMW network name and password with a QR code, my iPhone scans it, sets up the WiFi network on the phone and it appears and acts as though it may connect, but it never does. So it appears all I would need is an eSIM, but no eSIM capability is offered for the M240i model, at least not in cars built prior to April of 2024. I contacted a BMW "Genius" and he unequivocally told me the module does not exist in the car and it can not be outfitted with it now.
Kinda sucks, what can ya do, I suppose?!
