Parkers will give you a free valuation based on the model of your car and the 6 month registration period only. Eg, all E92 335i M-Sport manuals with a 2008/57 plate would be valued the same. The free valuation service assumes average mileage (10K per year I think), and does not take into account any options that may be fitted to your car. (Does anyone here not have at least some options!)

If you want to tailor the valuation precisely to the options on your car, then you can pay £3.49 and this allows you to enter your mileage and the main options, in return for which you get a more accurate quote. You can get as many quotes as you want within a 24 hour period for this price.

The problem is that parkers does not give you a complete list of options to choose from. If you want the full service, then it is better to pay for a Glasses Guide quote at £3.50 per quote.

A word of caution though. Don't assume your friendly dealer is automatically going to offer you the Glasses Guide trade-in price. Unless he really wants your car, he will most likely make you a fairly derisory opening offer.
