Yeah there is a difference between making great products and government mandated bans on ICE cars. There have been alot of pointless EVs up to this point, where there are quality issues and no range and whatever. And alot can be said for keeping existing cars on the road longer. But you see countries like Norway (where almost all new car sales are EV) are inspiring other governments to put regulation in place without proper planning. I'm not arguing a position on that.
I'm saying, there have been some recently great new EV products (Hyundai Ioniq 5 and BMW iX come to mind) that are just better in almost all facets than their ICE counterparts. So I personally have alot of optimism for EV sport cars. Porsche for example, has a target weight to keep the 718 EV under 3650 pounds and the Mission R is 3300 pounds. With the instant torque and weight distribution of an EV, that could be a really exciting car. BMW M seems to also have a focus on producing some exciting products in this space.
