No, based on the brakes on my E36 M3 the anti-rattle / squeal clips are the silver things in the picture.
The M appears to be a cosmetic clip added to the caliper, where you see the hole in the red one in the upper photo.
So, yeah, if they forget or they ran out of parts that day, you could be missing them.
