BMW has done a fantastic job engineering it's xdrive while taking driving dynamics into consideration. They are primarily RWD and allow you to hang out the rear as much as you want. Hell, M xdrive allows you to disengage the front completely if you so choose. The only penalty to having the system is a measly 100 lbs give or take which wouldn't be noticeable one way or another in the 3600+ lb arena.

No reason not to offer it other than pandering to the outdated and archaic thinking of fanbois who scream that the only option should be rWd MaNuAl...

I would trade my G82 for a G87, but only if xdrive were an option.
I understand your perspective, but I'm still in the RWD camp.
