They do so long as they don't get too hot. If they're at the upper end of the temp range they will literally disintegrate - even within operating temperature. The discs actually lose material over time. And the more material they lose, the less stress they can take. You can see where this is going.

Track people don't get CCB's because of this, resulting in more frequent replacements. The risk with steel or iron is cracking but if you don't drill the discs you will likely not have that issue.

CCB's are high maintenance if you want to get your money's worth.
