Have you guys and gals seen the 3 Series LCI? The one thing that caught my attention is they actually gave it completely new headlights. I don't ever recall BMW redesigning headlights to this extent for an LCI model. They may change the lighting components, tint the lens etc., but not change the entire shape. So this got me thinking, maybe, just maybe the LCI for the G87 will get different headlights and that's why they designed the bumper with larger cutouts and used vents as a placeholder until the LCI comes out?
