If that is the case, when is the best time to put down a deposit? My dealerships have stated that they do not take deposits until a car is announced. I am trying to prepare for a future announcement and just want to be ready/plan for it.

EDIT: I saw the first page...production starts August 2025. How early before production does BMW announce new variants? Also, how long has it taken guys who already have the G87 to get their cars after submitting their orders?
