It also dilutes the M brand a bit, even more so now that bmw is sticking the M badge on anything and everything.
By the same rationale, I'd look much more favorably on a Japanese sports car built in a Japanese factory (e.g GR Corolla).

BMW have plowed through so many other artificially concocted true-believer 'M brand' gates, who still has the energy to whinge about it?
I get initial model run concerns, but otherwise it's a modern factory, using the same globally sourced bits, assembled by a combo of robots and humans, just like anywhere else.
There is no it's in the water or secret sauce magic going on. Maybe if you buy a Morgan, but ya not at scale.
