The B58 has a lower boost threshold (around 2000 rpm) and feels stronger on first input on the throttle (just like N55 vs S55)
Not only is the progressive torque build on the S58 not an issue, it's a benefit. It's an intentional decision that improves driveability and control on corner exit. Other OEMs are doing the same (e.g., Porsche 992).

OEMs learned from their initial high performance turbo engines. Smacking full torque at 2K rpm can unsettle the car, especially with the F80's subpar traction control. BMW made same changes to the S55 later in it's lifecycle (e.g., CS models). It's less of an issue in the B58 given lower torque levels.
