I wish my VW had been a GTI. I got the launch edition Golf in 2014 (2015 model) and while it had a great touch screen with bluetooth for an entry level trim, it did not feature simple features like cruise control. 
Photo is after I had KW coilovers installed and swapped out the dreadful steel wheels with hubcaps over to Audi knockoff rims. My mechanic was over enthusiastic with the ride height and I had it raised up later on. |

I don't mess with suspension or tuning anymore.
Now I just keep perfect maintenance and fresh tires.
I did:
APR stage 1 = 300+ HP 380 torque
Went back to stock almost cooked my clutch
Full MSS suspension
Not good for long road trips
Went back to 100% stock.
