It is an app - not afflicted with BMW. All the code has been already put in place by BMW, the BimmerCode app just allows you to enable/disable certain features that were not previously enabled.
That being said, you are not technically “coding”, just flipping switches so you can’t truly break anything. You can risk bricking the ECUs if there is a power interruption when coding. That would require a tow to the dealer I believe so just ensure the battery doesn’t run out
