The G42 went into production in September 2021 as a 2022 model. Expect the G42 LCI to arrive as a 2026 MY, same goes for the G87.

I am well aware how it works as I was internal with the marque for years. Your logic is not 100% foolproof as that does not tend to apply to all the series.
