Yes, it looks like the car had multiple design teams each with their own vision for the car. Instead of sticking to a central theme for the overal shape of the car, the exterior is incorporating every shape possible which leads to somewhat of a mess. The fender flares out like the F87, but instead of carrying the smooth curve into the rear of the car, it abruptly transitions to hard/jagged angles. It's like a F87 with a Fast and Furious style bodykit from 2001. I believe that's why the F87's exterior somewhat looks like it's the newer design, because it all flows together.
Hmmm! I remember when people hated the F87's fanged front bumper, ridiculed the design of the rear bumper and lost their minds over…..gasp!!!!……connected front grilles. It was so un-BMW. How dare they connect those grilles!!!!!!! It's absolutely fascinating how it now "all flows together" and is a "perfectly cohesive design". Enthusiasts on forums are a feminine fickle bunch!
