If you have ever been to a drive-in movie, it is in very bad taste to drive around the parking area with headlights on. And when you find a spot to park, the ground is sloped upward for a better view out the windshield, which put the beams directly on the screen. I know there aren't many around any more, but there is still one in my town that is still operational, and people come from all around, I think mostly because of how few that are left.
