I think the limitation for MT has more to do with the torque than hp. The base M3/4 have 473hp, but the torque is only 406 lb-ft. The Competition models have 503hp, but most notably torque is 479 lb-ft. This is purely speculative on my part, but I'd bet a M2C will get the same S58 variant as the M3/4C that has been detuned. If so the MT would not be able to handle the extra torque.
