I think the limitation for MT has more to do with the torque than hp. The base M3/4 have 473hp, but the torque is only 406 lb-ft. If so the MT would not be able to handle the extra torque.

My guess is that the G82C will get the base G82 S58 tune making an MT possible if BMW so wishes.
