Sure, the engineers approved it, but I'm betting if the engineers were left alone by the government we wouldn't see 0w20. That's a direct result of CAFE ratings (MPG efficiency). Look outside of the USA where CAFE isn't a thing and guess what, it's often a different recommendation.

I'd love to hear the reasoning on why 0w30 was listed for 2023 when it was only 0w20 in 2022. Could it be because the B58 performance and heat from the turbo was breaking down the 0w20 to unacceptable viscosities at 10,000+ mile intervals?

I'd go with 5w40 looooong before I went with 0w20, regardless of what the manual says. I remember changing my oil for the first time at 2,500 miles and the 0w20 oil came out like water!
