I'm a fan of almost all BMWs, as others have mentioned both cars a quick in a straight line.
My old 340i was quick at traffic lights after a few modifications. My friend had an M2, we headed over to the Peak District and it was impossible to keep up with.
Yes m-lites and m cars are fast in a straight line, but country roads or track they are light years away.
Full M cars are different, not for everyone especially their ride. But straight line speed shouldn't be the measuring stick. It's everything, the heritage, the noise (lack of now in eu) and the feeling.
