The i4 is built in Munich. The LCI 3 series for North America was moved from Munich to Mexico for EV expansion there.

Due to the Biden Admin Inflation Reduction Act there are various stipulations that EVs have to be built in NA with a large percentage of their components, including the batteries produced in NA as well. There is a high probability BMW EV production for North America will move to Mexico and confirmed for Plant Spartanburg. BMW is going to build a battery facility at/near BMW Plant Spartanburg as well.
