It’s about avoiding crashes in the first place.
All tires have max speed limits, independent of what car they are on. Sustain driving above that max speed can result in tire failure. BMW is not going to allow a 155 mph max speed limiter if the tires they sell with it have a max speed rating of 140 mph. That’s a lawsuit waiting to happen when someone inevitably crashes because they were pegging the speed governor with the stock tires and the tire failed.
If you want the higher performance then pay for it. Tires are a very important item when it comes to speed and handling. It’s not like choosing if you want leather or pleather seats.
