The electric steering in my 2016 (non-competition) M3 was HORRIBLE. Just simply dreadful.
Just one model year later, I found that the steering in the M2 was dramatically better, so I bought one!
Having recently purchased an e36 M3, I can say that it is more communicative. But less weighty. e36 / F87 ... 2 different technologies, but both fairly effective.
The sweet spot does seem to be the M2CS, and I'm holding out hope that BMW puts those lessons learned into the G87!
