Finally got the car back today after a week with the techs. They brought in a second shop foreman and confirmed that the sound was there but still couldn’t isolate it. I think this is just something I’m going to have to live with until BMW figures this out and issues a TSB. Per the repair order they re-torqued all exhaust hanger bolts and rear suspension bolts, removed and re-installed the headliner, removed and re-installed the rear seats, and dismantled the trunk. Kudos to the dealership for trying, but no dice, and I don’t want push it further at risk or introducing new issues and burning what is. at the moment, a great relationship with the SA. Hopefully someone has luck with this!
