I purchased a X5 45e. The car only cost 3k or so above the cost of the same X5 with same engine sans the 24kw battery. The battery alone probably cost BMW 3k more. The electric motors etc. etc. I suspect they are loosing several thousand for every 45e they sell vs. an regular X5.
