Great review by the lads. I feel they were honest and of course know their stuff.

As expected the M240i performs very well even with the extra weight (especially off the line with xDrive); however, the M2 is more engaging (6MT), fun (RWD), and track-ready (lighter, stiffer suspension). Of course the new interior is much nicer, but I was surprised on the rear seat room (as I thought they were essentially identical).

If you want upgraded tech & a year round ride, the M240i works for 95% of people. If you are a hardcore enthusiast that doesn't live where there's snow and/or own a winter beater, the OG M2 might be the better move.

I wish they made a M2lite that's basically an OG M2 with a B58TU engine, updated tech, and interior color choices (unique options). To me that would be the best balance vs. the heavier S series engines with terrible fuel economy, etc. Here's my estimated rating system:
