2007 328xi ownership questions
Hey all,
New to this part of the forum but not new on the X1 side. Someone in my neighborhood is selling an 07 328xi. It has extremely low miles 25k and seems to be extremely well maintained and taken care of outside of some minor dings. Steering seems tight but I read that’s normal. No ticking that I could hear. Also had all the gaskets replaced about 3 years ago. I wanted to know if this car is worth an asking price of 10k? I see some listed online for 5-7k but in the 100-150k mileage range and can’t seem to find anything within the lower end (understandably so given its age). I personally cant justify spending more than 8500 seeing it is a 17 year old car, and the technology offered on it, barely allows for a Bluetooth connection. Everything works as it should for the most part outside some minor things here and there that I dont see myself missing as this would likely be a commuter car. On that note, any concerns about it mechanically or safety wise as I would be having my daughter in the vehicle quite often. Thanks in advance! |

I have a 2008 328i 116k miles now. This car is built well. For such low miles you are still well below water pump replacement range. If it is in good shape, I would jump and enjoy a fantastic car. Save money otw beforehand and no issues when you need repairs.

Oil pan gasket is the only real expense you'll be facing.
Was that one of the gaskets you mentioned? Time isn't kind to those things, although time+miles/cycles is worse. If that was done, then yes, a good price for sure. Is it an E90 or E91? If E91, yes, get it! If E90... sure if it's spec'ed well. |

Hi All,
Thanks for the chime in! I would need to verify what exactly got done to the car, and then justify pricing that way. All in all, it drove very well considering its age, it didn't have as much pick up as I thought it might but I think with some maintanence elements replaced like plugs, coil, air filter, and maybe even one of those bmw fuel cleaner additives might help get it closer to OEM spec. Because it's a commuter car I dont need it to go super fast. As far as over all reliability, what is the general consensus? Ive read on it a bit, seems pretty bullet proof as long as it was maintained, which it seems it was. |
