High Pressure Fuel Rail Modification

I saw a YouTube video where someone removed the small cartridge filter and drilled the inlet orifice on the high pressure fuel rail larger. I know this mod is big in the turbo diesel truck world. Has anyone done this that can speak to the results?

I've heard about people trying all kinds of stuff to get the HPFP's to flow more fuel. Trying to remove filters, drilling out pots, opening up the fuel rail passages, etc, etc......unfortunately, I've never seen any data proving that all the mods increase the flow at all...not even a little bit. If it actually worked.....you would hear about more people doing it.

And....when they cost $1,200+ to replace....you are probably better off not messing around with them.

Certainly wouldnt be expecting much of an increase. Would only look at this option if I was right at the edge say 1600psi at high rpm and needed a little bump. The one data point from a YouTuber (for what that’s worth) is about a 200-500 psi increase

That's a 10-25% increase in pressure.....I'm pretty skeptical so say that least.

The fitting to the HPFP is a specific one I've seen it sold . I believe porsche uses it as well for a fuel line fitting. It's an inverted type. You can build a fuel line with that and use AN -6 or AN-8 The LPFP sensor is a standard fitting; you can get a T for that. I built a line for my car because I'm running a PI setup and the factory hard line has a few bends that are crushed down and do bottle neck. The more volume you get on the HPFP inlet the better off your HPFP pressures will be.
