Did combox retro fit now can’t update maps?

Hi all,

2010 e91, factory cic, no combox.

I’ve updated maps many times with a lifetime code, same usb stick ect

Currently on 2024-1 premium Western Europe

I fitted a combox and coded the Kombi, Media & CIC with new later date and some options and removed so (will check and update)

Now when put in the USB to the glove box, nothing happens…. Tried reformatting the USB pen and reloading the maps 3 times to the USB.
It’s getting power as it has a little light flashing on the USB.
Used this stick and method many times….

I still have the tick on the nav screen.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Andy

the map update relies on autoexecution of the files from usb stick
may be you coded out this function during combox coding

Hmmmm, good thought and makes sense.
That would be when I coded the CIC I guess? Any way to check?

I also notice I can’t turn my DRL’s on and off in I drive anymore, I think it’s got something to do with changing the build date maybe? (To get apps but turns out I can’t get apps on my cic firmware anyways)

Well. To update this.

It seems it was the USB pen, I’d used it for about 5 updates before and nothing had changed but a new pen formatted on my Mac to ms dos FAT and I plugged it in and it started to update!
No completed it yet but I’ll do that tonight

I’d tried reformatting the old pen 3 times and ruled it out, but I guess try the easy things first! 2025 maps here i come…
