BMW Windshield Wiper 1% concentration
BMW's official windshield wiper fluid for E92 in California lists on the back to use 25% for type A-areas and 1% for non-Type-A-areas. Most counties are nonType-A as the areas with colder counties are Type A.
@1% the back of the bottle lists 2 oz per 160 oz of water. Are you Californians doing this? That's very low percentage as almost makes me think why not just use plain distilled water as that's super low. |

Not sure if this SDS below is for the concentrate, but that stuff is a joke. 65-75% just ethanol! The other must be blue coloring and possibly just water. LMAO!
https://www.m5board.com/attachments/145487/ I use RainX green (I heard the red can mess up the level sensor). https://www.rainx.com/product/rain-x...-washer-fluid/ |

ECS tuning simple, OE, cheap, no smell, will not clog washer pump filter, etc

That's a simple solution though it looks like that's no longer sold from ecs, fcp, & pelican. Some other vendors claim to have it. That one looks to be a 35% dilution if it's the same recipe as the small concentrate bottle I was mentioning.

I've read that some products can gunk up the reservoir/pump. I just use a generic super market brand since it probably doesn't have anything else that rain-x might.

I just use the cheap blue shit from NAPA/Autozone/Advanced. Never have had an issue. Why is this complicated?

Hah, wow! I had no idea even washer fluid was regulated by CARB:
https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/our-work/prog...ons/windshield Anyway, since it's a CARB thing and not a BMW thing, I'd just use whatever's available while avoiding stuff like RainX, as the additives can potentially foul the washer fluid sensor or clog the jets. I run washer fluid in the methanol injection on my other vehicles. You can check the SDS and verify that it only contains water and methanol. The -35C stuff is typically ~40% methanol. |

I have used these tablets from Amazon for probably a decade.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1 No issues with clogs or failed sensor on any of my cars. The problem is though that last time I ordere them they were $5.33 and now they are literally 3x that price. RIDICULOUS!! luckily I still have half a tube of them in the garage. |

I always just bought the blue shit at cheapest price I could find.
Unfortunately now the price is ridiculous - like 5 bucks or more a gallon??! I bought those blue dissolvable tabs - like a hundred for 5 bucks - and also have other concentrates - problem with those is that you need to add methanol/ethanol for freezing conditions - that is more expensive - but you can find that too - and I am now making my own for cost saving. Others probably have better things to do I admit. Perhaps a side effect of my BMW Over-Maintenance Disorder (BOMD) |

My friend from the bay area has a mechanic who always stocks up on the strong stuff when he goes to Nevada LOL. Yes, CA mandates what type of washer fluid you can run.

California doesn't like methanol/ethanol being sprayed into the air by millions of people in cities. I stock up in NV/UT when driving. It's fine to buy and transport yourself, sellers just can't sell it to people in CA. I personally prefer it. I often drive a few times a year to freezing climates and have to remember to purge my washer tank and lines before leaving. Last time I did, but not good enough and had water freeze and crack a nozzle.
When I dont have the good stuff, I just use the Nextzett Kristall Klar concentrate. A $12 bottle of concentrate lasts me over a year and I use the washers a LOT. I tried the blue tablets and they work well but they leave a blue residue around the nozzles on one of my cars. |

If freezing isn't an issue, one or two drops of dishwashing liquid to one gallon of water should work.
But remember, if it is close to freezing, and you're driving down the road, the evaporation (cooling) of the fluid will cause the windshield to frost. Been there, done that! |
