N52 Knock (Ping) Sensor Replacement

Alright, looking for opinions on replacing the knock sensor on my N52 (for the Z4). Thinking I can just pull the alternator and go in from the front? Has anyone tried it? A rat got to the Z4 and chewed a bunch of wires. Stuffed the area between the intake manifold and block with food for the winter. I cleaned it all out and found he nipped the knock sensor harness to the Bank 2 knock sensor. It was just a nick to the ground wire and I repaired it with liquid electrical tape, but now the ECU is pulling a knock sensor code. Maybe he took a bite on the Bank 1 side too. I've not yet looked to be sure. While the intake is easier to pull on the Z4 (there is more room in the engine bay than an E90), I'd rather be minimally invasive with the surgery.

If anyone has tried replacing the knock sensor without removing the intake, please shout out. Trying to decide if new AL bolts for the alternator or new intake gaskets should be on my parts order....

TIA

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
