New coils to try and clean up logs (these are the old ones). Also just had 4 dings/scratches on 4 different body panels fixed. The hood had a lot of rock dings and now it looks amazing.

apparently, in Germany, it's ILLEGAL to change your oil yourself. No matter what non-professional infrastructure you have. It's illegal mostly because of environmental reasons.

I know Europe was tight, but this is a next step. So, basically, the only maintenance you may do yourself is changing windscreen wipers, and refueling.

Changing engines on your driveway is already no-go in Europe as it is mostly illegal to actually change an engine in any car. I mean, you can change it to the SAME TYPE OF engine that was present in the car when build, but nothing else. Not even to another engine that was available in the same series of car, when it was built. Reason is that the car itself was built for a given engine, and you must have that type of engine.
That’s quite exaggerated…
First of all, Europe is a big place. Yes, there are common rules, but definitely not down to that level - this can only be country specific.

I have lived in a few countries in Europe, from far south to far north, incl Germany, and in neither is it “illegal” to change your engine oil! This said, there are regulations about what you need to consider and enaure in order to do so (environmentally friendly). And I doubt that if you leave a 6L puddle of oil on the street or public place in the States, the police (or city administration) would just say “yeah, sure, why not, nothing illegal about it”.

To build a house garage in Austria, you need to ensure and demonstrate that it features a drainage under the car with a reservoir sufficiently large to retain the oil of a car if it happens to leak out.

Maybe there is a reason why tap water in most European countries is good and drinkable? 😉

Change of engine? Yes - correct for Germany. You cannot modify your car freely beyond its approved configuration.
And yet again - there may be a reason why there are so few fatal road accidents per capita in Germany despite no speed limit? 😉

Nothing comes without a cost.

Put on new shoes (Aodhan AH11 18x8.5 ET35 Matte Bronze wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/40/18), installed MAD downpipe, and flashed BM3 Stage 2 91 this weekend! Been getting poured on during my commute lately and need to do a good detail for the summer.

Next big project will be a suspension refresh to help lower that gap lol, but I don't mind it as much as I was worried I might.

Titanium valved exhaust

Over the weekend I installed my valved catback (SS single resonator midpipe + titanium valved muffler). Aggressive when valves are open and quiet when valves are closed.

Very nice! Gotta love that titanium. Is that the Valvemaster axleback from their catback system?

I pounded on the hood with a hammer, among other things. Sure doesn't sound like me.

Not for the faint of heart, I don't think. So someone (no note, of course) dropped something on my hood while the car was parked. 1-inch long gouge through the paint to the primer and a round quarter-sized dent surrounding it in a dead smooth part of the hood. I know I can handle the paint touch-up, but wasn't sure about the dent. I definitely can't not see it every time I'm near the car, so something had to be done.

So I've decided to learn PDR. I spent about two hours on it so far and have eliminated about 90% of the dent. I've also added a few new high spots, which I guess is to be expected, and reduced or eliminated some of those as well. So far, I have not damaged the paint any more than the . . . <deep breath>. . . who did this to my car had. I figure even if I'm 90% through removing the dent, I'm still only 1/3-1/2 through with the finishing work.

Good excuse for some new tools and to learn some new skills. I haven't hammered metal on a car in 40 years and not on a fully painted car, ever.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Here it's entirely dependent on where one lives, down to the city level. But I can't imagine there's any place where one is allowed to do that.

Even if it was "legal" who the f would deliberately drain their engine out on the ground?

Nearly all auto parts stores and oil change places will take your waste oil, filters, etc. at no charge.

Active Autowerke downpipe is showing CEL (check engine light) so they sent me a replacement fo free. I'll do better at the proper breaking-in process this time, hopefully avoiding the CEL in the future.

Nevermind - figured it out. You pull them out and slide them in and then clip them back in.
