The infotainment system controller is not responding but the screen still works and is not frosen would this be the controller, a fuse? That is the type of controller I am using my model will be below with a lot of other knowledge I know about the car.

These controllers are known for going bad, but mostly on Pre-LCI models, not models fitted with CIC (like yours).

Before you get a new one, check the fuse box that is located behind your glovebox. There is a fuse diagram in there as well. When checking fuses use a multimeter, not just visual checking.

If fuses are OK, then check the controller wiring to make sure its getting +12V and GND. There are 4 wires in total and the other two are CAN wires.

If its getting voltage and ground, then you have 2 possible issues - either the controller itself is faulty, or the CAN wires are faulty. My money is on the controller itself though

I replaced the controller in my wife's 2011 X3 because someone spilled water on it. Found an used unit on ebay for $213 including shipping.

If it is the controller would one work from a wrecked e90 or do vins have to match and is there anything to prevent water damage because I think someone spilled something and didn’t tell me and that’s why it it’s not working not trying to go threw this again because of careless people
