I pulled the tape off and the wiring is twisted together. But it has definitely been snapped in the past and looks as though whoever had it just tried to twist it together and then taped it.

I was just writing a response saying I looked at a couple other threads after searching those codes and it seems like people got those codes after bending pins on their mechatronic when reinstalling the TCU wire harness or breaking the connector on the shift assembly.

Assuming your pins are fine on your new mechatronic, it seems like you might've found the issue on your gear shift assembly? Maybe try splicing those wires to see if it fixes your issue and then pick up a shift assembly from a junk yard. I like using www.car-part.com, if you haven't heard of that before it's a network for junk yards to post items they have for sale.

Kind of off topic here but with this turbo setup should i be running ngk 2 step plugs? Im on pump 91 with a custom bef tune but while surfing it says that i need to upgrade the plugs.

so like assumed, this seems like electrical issue.

are you redoing the wiring?

Is ISTA module reading got you some communication issue?

Idk if i can redo the wiring im not very good at stuff like that. But yes i bought the software like konistat suggested i do and i was given those codes. I had bought a shifter off marketplace and the wiring was electrical taped together lol. It was tucked and I was a dummy and didnt pull it out to really check.

diag softwares are free.

inpa , ista are the 2 main one you need for bmw. It saved so many time !

Pick up an inline splice connector for now. WAGO is a decent brand. Probably not rated for automotive vibration but then you’ll know if that’s your problem

If pushing over 500whp I’d go with at least 1 step colder. 2 steps above 650whp as well. Those are rough numbers. Get some fresh Eldor coil packs as well if you don’t already. Don’t forget dielectric grease to prevent an annoying stuck coil boot on your plugs

on 91 500whp is optimistic .

1 step colder should be fine.

2 step will work just fine too, might decrease mpg.

Im running a borgwarner 6973, im not sure how much power im making but i dont get full boost until around 4-4.5k rpm, and im running b58 coils. No e85 here just pump 91 and good ole 100 octane/ms 109. 1 step colder will be more beneficial for my setup?
