I've got a full custom Xpel on my F82, IMO it's the only way to go (as opposed to precut) if you're paying this kind of money for paint protection.

Now you've got the great looks of a frozen paint color with the peace of mind that comes with PPF! Nice done!

👌🏼

So this may be a dumb question, do you use the same soap as matte paint job? No waxing, etc. etc.

Looks Great! To me this is a better option then getting a frozen paint. If you want a matte finish paint this is doing that AND protecting your paint.

Great Choice! Congrats on the car!

Exactly my train of thought. I ALMOST opted for the frozen factory finish but after some research, decided to go the route I did. No regrets whatsoever AND the piece of mind that comes with full PPF protection..it was a no-brainer.

Very nice. I am doing the same to my g83 when it arrives. How close to frozen portimao would you say it look.s

In my experience, film is just film. It's a protection barrier that doesn't or barely if any, changes the tone of the paint. Other than the fact that the paint goes from gloss to matte, people have said the tones in the color of natural gloss with a stealth wrap are different than with an original matte paint job. I think it's negligible at best if any. The "loss" of any look in the paint is not worth the potential chips and scratches. I had my first edition double layered on my hood for extra protection. No cost to me since the installer wanted to try it out. Stealth does not come as thick as gloss normal xpel PPF and two layers of stealth is harder to work with. So we experimented with bottom layer of gloss and top layer stealth. As you can see, putting xpel gloss over my original frozen paint, turns it into the gloss Barcelona blue. And two layers on the hood is indistinguishable from the rest of the car with one layer of stealth. So moral of the long post here is PPF does not change the tone of the paint.

I spoke with PPf installers today. We both agreed that putting XPEL stealth on a paint job is the way to go. Matte colors are expensive, and you have to protect it because it's super expensive to fix. Stealth XPEL protects and makes it matte, plus if you want to change back you just take off the film.

And honestly, I always viewed matte paint as a poor paint job. The matte wrap looks straighter. Your car looks great.

Beautiful car!
How is it keeping clean? Picks up fingerprints? Do they wrap inside the door pillars?

Your car looks amazing. Really glad i found this thread; I have an order in for an M850 in Frozen tanzanite blue. I was of course going to fully matte ppf car for protection anyway, but now think im going to save the $5k for the factory frozen paint job, order portimao blue, and then wrap similar to yours. Thanks! How has finish/film held up for you? Think I am also going to ceramic coat on top of the ppf for ease of care; did you also do that?

I agree!
I didn't like the factory frozen PB finish so went with regular (melted?!) PB. I'd be very tempted to get the finish the OP got.
Not knowledgeable on this - can you only do this when new or can it be done to, say, a year old car?

Interestingly, I was going to replace mine this weekend and the RW carbon guys said that mine was glued down and that there was a high chance of paint damage if they removed it.
