E91 M57 - Cylinder 4, 5, 6 low compression
I have been chasing an issue for excessive smoking from tail pipe during idle.
'07 E91 330d, 170kW. DPF, EGR and swirl flaps off. After replacing an injector for cylinder 6 due to poor values for compensation as shown in INPA/ISTA+, values got worse for cylinder 2 and 4 and I was told to do a compression test. Compressions came out as follows: Cyl 1: 260 Psi / 18 Bar Cyl 2: 260 Psi / 18 Bar Cyl 3: 260 Psi / 18 Bar Cyl 4: 218 Psi / 15 Bar Cyl 5: 160 Psi / 11 Bar Cyl 6: 190 Psi / 13 Bar Can anyone tell me what could be the cause and what to try before I tear apart the entire engine? The excessive smoking is obviously from the poor compression in the last 3 cylinders. Ps. Otherwise engine runs completely fine, no misfires, not down on power, doesn't consume oil, just grayish eye burning smoke coming from the tailpipe (and only on idle). |

Haven't got the tools for that. Might take it to a BMW specialist workshop.
