Which Air Intake Manifold? - N53 B30 325i Power Mods

Hi all,

I'm on the verge of doing some power mods to my E92 325i N53 B30.

As it's NA I wasn't expecting to gain much more than 330i power. So far so all I've changed in the engine bay is replace the air filter with a Pipercross filter.

My first question is do I need to have a 330i air intake manifold and if so, does my engine already have it? I've seen some people say their 325i had it from factory but I don't know how to identify that. (Last 7 digits for RealOEM VIN decoder: E430195)

Secondly, does the DISA valve come with the manifold or separate?

Additionally, is it better to flash/tune the gearbox and upgrade to custom stainless steel sports cats/front pipes before remapping or are they going to make negligible differences to the tune?

Lastly, I've recently seen supercharger options for the N52/N53 appearing online:

https://hydemotorworks.com/shop/product/nebraska-r1/

Has anyone had experience with supercharging the N53 and have reliable performance? Would supercharging negate the above remapping, manifold etc or should be done in conjunction with supercharging.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm torn between doing the remap soon (218hp stock to ~270hp doesn't sound too shabby) Vs. waiting to see how much power can be gained from supercharging.

Thanks

Not the answer you are looking for, but my suggestion is to buy a 335i

I agree with. wrevilo above, get a 335i and spend the money on that instead. Once you've invested in a supercharger, inlet mods, injectors (if needed for the extra fuel delivery) custom map to set the fueling etc, bigger brakes. And whatever else I've forgotten to add, you may as well get a 335i. It would be more reliable and easier to insure.

Unless........ Just fancy a project car. Then go for the supercharger option, it's a fairly easy bolt on so I've heard. There's an American company that does the kits, won't be cheap but a fun project.

I have an E92 N52B25 325i that is a bit gutless as is too heavy for the meager torque it has. This is crying out for a turbo or supercharger. Not sure if there are any kits available for it though.
