Mine was hanging on by a thread has the plastic head partially broken already. It was somehow pushing the coil spring into the wall of the extension in nearly stopping us movement.
So the zip tie I got it where it needs to be!
I've never in my life used it, but it's fixed!

Firstborn is getting closer, but sheesh it's a nightmare just getting standard tools installed and running :-/
Zip tie fix? Please share...

Thx in advance.

Not today, but 10 days ago washed, clay bar, polish with white pad on a DA (3D Speed AIO), then waxed (3D Poxy).

10 days later parked outside it still looks great!

Oh yeah, it's a great hack! Instead of bending the tip of the coil around to make a hook (which I could never do without snapping it off!), you just stick it through the plastic and tighten a really small (2 or 3mm) zip tie around the ears. On all my cupholders, there's still one side of the plastic that breaks and the other is still intact. That's enough to keep the zip tie from dropping into the space. For my needs of very rarely/never using the cupholder, it holds fine. I don't know if it would hold with everyday use.

One of the first few threads I ever started since joining e90post was on this exact subject, however I used something even cheaper than a zip tie. I used a single staple. Even though I don't own the 325 any more, I can confirm that the fix is still holding up and the cupholder still works perfectly!

Will beta test this on the next go-round!
