I noticed that my local pick-a-part just got in a couple of cars that might have some parts that I've been wanting to pick up for a while now. It was a lovely day so I threw some tools in the car and off I went. The picking went well and I got two lengths of weather stripping and a lower cabin air filter housing. A couple of the clips are broken off mine.
While I was at the counter to pay for my prizes the manager came over and plopped down a little gift for me... a selfie stick, a cheap-ass selfie stick, but it's the thought that counts.
Total cost for the parts... wait for it....$18.41 tax in.

Edit: I also found a replacement for the engine cover screw that I dropped down on to the belly pan.

I dropped one of the valvetronic bolts and couldn't find it, and lost one of the 8mm coil ground nuts, so off to the local wrecker this morning. Found replacements and back ups for the next time!

Just needed a door lock actuator...

I lost the driver door lock actuator on the driver's door, so had to make a Pick-N-Pull stop this weekend. Got the actuator no problem, but saw an E92 N54 that might have had some needed bits. Looking down I can see the machine marks still on the rear rotors....they looked almost brand new. The fronts were drilled and slotted, not my first choice, but also looked pretty new, no grooves in any of them, so...

Not bad for $25 each. Also found another CIC from a 1 series and several USB jacks and cables. Was a nice sunny day to get dirty, but those discs are HEAVY!

Raced out of work as there was a 2011 335i with M Sport at the sorta' local Riverside PYP. It came in on Saturday but I only noticed it there today. The bumpers, rocker panels, door sills, and lots of the engine compartment were pretty picked over already. It still has the 193 style rims, but they were just way too beat up for my tastes.
That left the anthracite interior! It looked like someone started in on it as the handles were gone and the dome lights were pulled off. But all the pillars were still there along with the headliner! So I grabbed them all, along with the brake handle, but left the headliner as I didn't think I could get it out easily without creasing it up.
So if I can get motivated to fabric paint my headliner, I'm pretty close to 95% there!

FYI to anyone in SoCal reading this (you're my people!), the LCI heated sport seats are still in the car and are in really good condition! Non-accident car, so all the airbags are there. Steering wheel with paddle shifters is there as well, although has an aftermarket cover stitched on that looked kinda' janky.

I posted those up hoping someone will get them: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...php?p=31480125

SCORE!!!

Can you go back and get me those paddles, if they're <$50?? I just got a M3 wheel for my 335i and want the LCI paddles. The black headliner is awesome, though my 335 already has it.

How about the M door sills or the dead pedal? Are they any good? I actually just ordered a set of door sills (for E92/E93) from eBay for a great price, but wouldn't mind a set for the 330.

I miiiiight go back Saturday and try for the headliner, but it's kinda' far away, and I hate removing airbags (They never seem to come out for me). Dead pedal was trashed and the sills were already gone :-(

FYI I ordered some used black grab handles and the black sunroof gasket from eBay. If I get up the courage to paint the headliner, I'll have everything else ready to go!

I have watched a lot of YT the last couple days and decided to give the M Sport headliner a try. I went back today and pretty much no drama pulling it out! I already did the ABC pillars, and someone else pulled the dome lights and visors, so really just had to focus on the sunroof. I followed this GREAT tutorial and it was perfect. Only difference was that I used the hex tool to manually open and close the sunroof, but no problem at all!

I used a tool battery to power the seats and dropped them down, then pulled the headliner out through the front passenger door. I had to bend it a little, but think it is fine. Total cost: $26!!!

I ordered the black sunroof gasket and black handles from ebay. I'm going to re-paint everything with fabric paint just to freshen it up while waiting, then install and have an M Sport interior!!!

If one does, it's a super easy job! Takes a little while, but nothing crazy hard and no oil or fluids involved!

I did this headliner swap last month. I did not need to remove any rubber moulding on the doors.
Use a plastic pry tool to move it out of the way and use it again when you want to fold it over the edges.

No need to remove the seats or back seat. I did it with pushing the driver seat all the way to the back and recline it all the way.
The passenger seat move it forward and recline it.
Remove the right rear door card and the right back seat bolster. You do need to slightly fold, like a couple of millimeters. That's it.

Taking the covers for the T50 bolts on the seats for the seatbelt took 30 min each seat to try and not break something.
Do get some extra clips for the bottom part of the A pillar. They are the same ones used on door cards.

Doubt I'll get that lucky we don't have any good u-pull-it places near me. I'll be doing it anyway, talked to an upholstery shop yesterday and got a quote for headliner, A, B & C pillar, sunroof shade and rear package tray. It's pretty steep, $900 with me doing the removal and install. I'm kinda cringe about that but this guy is good and as much as I love DIY I don't want my interior looking like it was done by a 3rd grader in art class.

$900 is way too much. I had to actually browse FB market place every day typing "BMW parts" for about 2 years until I got someone parting, and he was in a different city too.
All in all was $350 Canadian Lira.

I'm not buying tho, I'm having my original parts recovered. I too have trawled marketplace and fleabay and craigslist but haven't found anything worth buying, very few for sale at all actually and those had blemishes. The guy doing the upholstery is using OE fabric and the work I saw on others panels looks like brand new. I could do it myself for a couple hundred in materials but it takes a lot of practice to make them come out perfect, and that isn't in my skillset. If there were doovers like most DIY I'd do it myself until I got it right, but you only get 1 shot at this.

An X5 with M Sport package came into the local PAP and I wanted to grab the door sills and steering wheel. No luck as someone got there first. I did grab a cargo floor strut assembly if anyone is interested. Newer LCI style E70s didn't have these, so you have to pull form a 2010 or earlier one. HMU if anyone can use it! I miiiight go back and pull the low profile roof rails, but all my racks are for the older upright style. So while they may look great, functionally they aren't so great.

I just painted mine. But I'm a 4th grader.
It worked out quite well, I have to say. I wasn't too concerned about ruining a grey headliner in case it turns into crap.
I'll post an update to my thread soon.

In hindsight I wish I had done that, or tried to re-cover it myself. Had a bad experience with the upholstery shop, kindly allow me to rant. This shop was recced by the guy at the hotrod shop who does my machine work, said he does all his interiors (60s muscle cars mostly). I went to see the guy, looked like he knew his sh!t, work looked nice so had him come out and look at my interior. He has a little color chart and matches up my gray, said bring it in next week. So's I bring my parts in, headliner, package tray, pillars and shnshade. Guy says have them in a few days, so sure I was thrilled when he calls after 2 days and says they're done. I go to pick them up and he did them all in black. The purple package tray was the only thing supposed to be black. As good as @stradaredlands new black interior looks, all my other parts are gray. I say uhhhh these are supposed to be gray, "I thought you said black". Now the guy actually sat in my front seat with a color chart not a week before.... I say "no". So a couple more days, called again parts ready, I pick them up, pay too much but at least they're the right color now. Go to install the sunshade, it's got 2 layers of foam on it, like he didn't remove it from the first attempt, so no way this thing is gonna slide it's way too fat. I said f it, better just do it myself, so went to the fabric store, got material and covered it my damn self hallelujah amen. That was yesterday, today I'm looking at the pillars and one B pillar is a lighter gray than the rest, not jump out at you but can't be unseen once noticed, so I'll be covering that again too. Grrrrrr.
Anyhoo, rant over, it's looking pretty good so far.

You know I should have known that, but I convinced myself that upholstery work wasn't actually "working on my car". You iz right and I iz wrong, lesson learned.

The only “upgrade” I wanted to do to the “new” daily was projector headlights. I am OEM, so glad I found these randomly last night for $50. They will need lenses, but everything else is solid. Someone got a little happy with the buffer and melted them down in a few spots.

Grabbed some of the X5M style low profile roof rails for an E70. A pretty easy job to drop the headliner and get access. Not sure if I'll keep or re-sell, as I have crossbar racks and a roof cargo box that attach to the raised style and would need to buy new ones. If anyone really has a desire for these, HMU and we'll talk!

Also the rest of the X5M panels are all there. Front and rear bumpers, side rockers, all the interior minus steering wheel. If you're in SoCal and looking for said parts, it's a 2010 model at the San Bernardino LKQ. VIN 5UXFE4C50AL384614
