Traffic conditions no longer available

As of a few days ago, when I select a route, traffic conditions are no longer displayed on the map. All that is displayed is a white line depicting the route. Any thoughts on why this happened?

Thanks in advance.

I believe traffic conditions are broadcast on FM radio subcarrier frequencies.

Your car must both be in range of a broadcasting station and on long enough to get updates which are slowly transmitted.

It can take quite a while for the radio to get a full update when conditions are good.

When there has been no update received for a few hours, no traffic info will appear as you describe.

I don't think that's the issue. This hasn't been working for several day.

Yes, FM radio is working fine. I discovered that my subscription to BMW Connected Services expired. No notification in advance from them. You apparently only get the first four years included with a purchase. I re-subscribed a few minutes ago so I'll see if that does the trick later today when I'm in the car.

I had no idea that an E9X can get traffic information.

I have not received FM traffic updates in either E70 or E90 for about 7 months now. There was a e9x m3 forum post discussing the same thing. I believe FM traffic info is dead, at least in California. FM traffic might still be a thing in other parts of the country. Since carplay boxes are the rising in popularity since covid, no one has noticed.
