Time to replace my brake light assembly?
I've been getting a light warning in my E92 (2008 335i coupe, MT if it matters, not xDrive) for a while and I finally got around to figuring it out. The code it's showing on the dash was CC-ID 136 which https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=299680 led to want to replace the bulb. Sure, seems easy. I read https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125972 and said "welp, time to buy four of H21W". Off to FCP, bought them, went to install today and... crud. 1) wrong bulb. 2) It looks like one of the lines to the bulb is burnt, so that's not great. 3) Aaaaaand I broke the bulb taking it out. Utter defeat in my parking spot this afternoon. Pictures of what I'm seeing attached.
Anyway, so, two questions for the knowledgeable folks here: 1. I should probably insert $50 into https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/63217174407/ and know it's fine, right? That burn mark doesn't fill me with joy. 2. How did I mess up the lights? I'm assuming that's a brake light, and the linked thread says it's a H21W. The light I pulled out of the car is W16W which is... the back up signal. Does that sound right? Mostly asking in case the answer is "whoops, nope, that post has a typo", in which case I'll go annoy the poster of that thread It's appropriate that my first post here includes me not reading a parts list correctly. RIP. |
