2008 328i N52 Turbo/engine build
Hello everyone. We have a 2008 328i that has been great over the years but getting old. Recently got an X7 and an X5 coming for the Mrs. This being said I kind of want to pull the engine and rebuild and turbo it for just a fun car and since it has some sentimental value to it. What have you all done to make this a faster fun car? I have no budget. It’s more just to have fun as I’m wanting a M5 touring in the future as well.
Thank you! Fire away! Last edited by SteveBMWx7; 11-25-2024 at 10:04 PM.. |

When you say no budget do you mean no money or all the money? If it's all the money I'd love to see someone install the ECR kit. https://www.eurocanracing.com/produc...52-Turbo-Kit/1
A turbo N52 really doesn't make sense vs. a N54 if you want a monster engine, but if you have $$ to throw at it for shitz and giggles and say "I has a turbo N52" it would be a cool project. I don't know of anyone with a turbo N52, but there's a couple guys have supercharger projects going. Most of us just do 3 stage intake and headers, maybe MILVs, There's not a lot you can do performance wise outside of going forced injection. Good luck and keep us updated. |

Anything is possible. But for the $$$ and effort involved, if you still absolutely really positively want to keep the car and don't want to just buy a N54/N55 car, a LS swap is a better path to big power.

At the end of the day it’s more sentimental value as it was my wife’s first car. It would be fun to rebuild it and keep it for the next 50 years. And drive it occasionally.

depends, I was about to buy a rare E91 6mt mpack a-real-fully loaded with only 50k miles.
This one I would do the N52 turbo. Ive skipped that, and found a very clean E91 6mt for dirt cheap, and swap a N54. at the end of the day, it was cheaper and faster. |
