Please tell me it's not the timing chain
I have a 2011 328xi with 137k miles, N52 engine when I look up my vin. The past 2 weeks have been in the 20s or below, Fahrenheit, and my my car won’t start and gives codes P052B, P05CE, 2A7C (test inhibited).
I usually try to do things myself but it’s been so cold that I took it to a shop and they said the Vanos solenoids and camshaft position sensors needed to be changed so they changed them and the car started up and drove fine all day. The next morning, no start. It cranks but no start. Sometimes it seems like it wants to start and revs for a split second but dies immediately. I called them back and they said they think it’s the timing chain… please no lol I don’t know for sure but Google seems to say that sometimes the Vanos solenoids need to be OEM and programmed and I know the new sensors had the same part number but they were a no name brand. And the shop said that the sensors calibrate themselves. Any help diagnosing this no start problem is much appreciated. I feel like it runs fine once it’s started and after being in the warm shop it didn’t have any problem starting which makes me hopeful that it’s just a cold weather thing. |
