Let's go lower.
Hi guys,
Like some of you, I’m a couple weeks out from getting my M2 (HEA) I’m curious to know if some on you are in the same situation and planning to lower the car asap. I’m looking at a couple of option for lowering springs / adjustable lowering springs even coilovers. I’m pretty sure USA will get the first M2 on the road (I’m from Canada) and I’d love to see some lowered M2 in the near future! Let me know your lowering plans! My HEA specs are -Toronto Red -Carbon trims -Carbon Roof -Black interior with M highlight -Shadow light -All the option except for bucket seat Can’t wait! Thanks |

Welcome! And congrats. G8X HAS or springs should fit G87 after checking with 3 vendors. Again none of us or vendors tested them yet but very certain that they will fit with no issues. I was running MSS on my G80, so I will use my same old kit for G87.

That’s what I’ve seen so far, G80s front looks very high, I’m curious to see what’s it gonna look like on the G87!

I'm planning to drop the car to the BMW recommended settings of 10mm via their kit or someone else's. However, with none tested and released so far, I'm banking on BMW's performance parts being released in March or April specifically for the G87.
I will not order G80/82 parts and hope to fit them. I'm certain the front axle spring rates will be OK but the rear is suspect to me so waiting on their "official" part number or aftermarket manufacturer released specifically for the platform. |

I plan on doing H&R sport springs...or super sport. Whichever is available first.
I've always had adjustable coilovers...and never found myself adjusting them so I think I'll save myself the money this time around. |

Imagine spending $70,000 on a track-ready sports car, designed by some of the best motorsports engineer in the world, using advanced computers and adaptive mechanical technologies - only to ruin it with $300 eBay springs.

BMW offer a coilover system “M performance” for their costumer. Changing the suspension of a car doesn’t mean ruining anything. We’re not cutting oem Springs here, it’s not a 2000 Honda civic. I just don’t understand why people take their precious and valuable time hating on what other people do, it’s interesting. |

Same, I’ve ran these springs on my last 3 cars and love them.

H&R has been around for 50 years. They know what they're doing.

I was planning on getting some springs as well probably H&R as well but just thought about it won't the springs ruin the dampeners or is that not something that happens because of the EDC.

Springs rates should match your dampers otherwise it will not only mess with the ride and handling but can also prematurely blow out your struts/shocks. Always get springs from a reputable company that takes the time to develop them and match them to the dampers. You also want to get shorter bump stops if you go lowering springs. That's actually the hard part as most lowering springs don't come with them. Some people cut their bump stops to shorten them but that's not ideal because cutting them will cause them to wear out quicker. When shorter bump stops are not available your next best option it to go with a HAS (height adjustable springs) kit. Most come with shorter bumper stops, and they transform your struts/shocks to act more like coilovers and let you dial in the height of your car unlike springs which are static. Currently BMW makes a HAS kit for the M2, so does KW. Dinan will be developing one but that's a ways out. The cool thing about a HAS kit is you can turn your stock suspension into coilovers yet still retain the OEM adaptive suspension feature.
