Phone w/ X icon on iDrive Screen
So recently, i've been noticing an icon on my iDrive screen right next to my phone's recetption "bars." The icon looks like a phone w/ an X to the right of it. What does this mean? My phone/bluetooth seem to be working normally. I can make/receive calls, and scroll through the contacts fine, so i'm not sure what it's indicating.
The car is still really new to me, so i'm still learning. I tried to find it in the manual, but it doesn't seem to mention it. Either that or i totally missed it.

happens with my iphone too, it means your phone is connected but its not in use, make a phonecall and youll see it go away.

My 2008 idrive is different, but it's probably the missed call notification.

Well its not conrete as in proven but I can tell you that every time I get into my car and the BT connects there is a phone with an X symbol next to it and I have no missed calls( i check) and whenever i use the phone the X goes away till I hang up....not concrete though...more like asphalt in cold weather

#4 is what I thought the OP was talking about, but after reading his post again, I guess it's some new icon for something else when they upgraded idrive.

Yeah, that's not the icon i'm talking about. It looks like a telephone handset (like an oldschool land line phone handset) w/ a small X slightly to the right of it.

There was that one post in there about the phone not being on the approved list, but since mkato13 has an iphone 3gs, as so many of us do, I don't think should be it.

hmm, well according to mkato, it didn't go away after he went in to his received calls. So maybe it's not missed calls??? Someone's gotta know for sure!

I realize this is an old thread but there was no definitive answer shown.
For the record, the phone handset icon with an X next to it means that you missed a phone call while the system was active. It will remain that way until you go into the "received calls" section and examine the missed call. I selected it, it started to dial the number, and I canceled the call before it actually dialed the number. That cleared the symbol and all is back to normal. |

Funny it just happed to me too!
You are correct it indicates a missed call. I spoke to a BMW Genius to learn how to turn it off. The only thing he knew would work was to shut the car off and it will “reset” in a few minutes. That worked for me BUT there must be a better way to clear it. |
