2ad0 trans malfunction?

2007 bmw 335i e92 AT

Just got 2ad0 code

On initial start up car goes gear to gear fine and then when stopping at a stop sign or a complete stop , it will not move again until turned off and then turned on again.

Transmssion light pops up

Means you need to service your transmission asap. Get a diagnosis from a reputable shop near you.

So a simple fluid and filter change should get this going again?

Sorry…

You can try. I did try this in my e90 like 5 yrs ago and the issue with it was solved. I had about 100k miles I think 🤔 first time servicing my tranny.

My symptoms were different though. I would come to a stop and I would feel and bump like some rear ended me every time. Red tranny symbol in my dashboard. A friend whi has a shop rrplaced it for me. I just bought the parts. I think I paid him like $300 back thern.

Your symptoms are different. You can always try to change fluid gaskets ans solenoids see if this helps. How many miles on your car?

Now my E88 it was a completely different story. It had slipping issues. Replaced the same parts as my E90 first and only made the issue worse. I ended up rebuilding it. My 4th gear clutch disc was burned. It has been over a year. Tranny feels like new.

And if you tranny is damaged like mine, rebuilt it before buying a used one. Strongly recommend it. Good luck 👍

Looks like im going to be trying to find a used one off of Facebook marketplace and install it myself.
My shop offered to code it if i installed it myself which is pretty nice.

Wondering what i should be doing to make these transmissions last😂

This transmission had XHP stage 3 but showed no signs of slipping or anything before just completely going out one morning after parking it in the driveway one morning.

By not abusing them. I was told by the shop. Even though these trannys are showing their age.

Does ANYBODY actually look up a fault code to see what Module it's in & what it means?

2AD0 is a Fault Code in the MSD80 DME, NOT in the EGS Transmission Module. It means the DME is NOT
receiving an expected message/communication from the EGS Transmission Module (via the PT-CAN bus). It has NOTHING
to do with Transmission Function, Fluid Level, Filter Condition, etc. Here is the definition found in BMW Fault
Code Lookup:
2AD0 | No message from transmission control unit, receiver DME, transmitter EGS / HIM / SMG / DCT | msd80
ISTA shows SAME definition. Look it up at this Link:
https://bmwfault.codes/

That usually means there is a fault in the PT-CAN Bus wiring between the EGS & DME, usually at one of the connectors,
probably the X8500 connector at the Transmission. Attached are wiring diagram, Location & Connector View from ISTA.
PT-CAN wires are at Pins 10 & 11 of X8500 Round Connector, Black & Yellow wires, respectively. It's also possible that
there is an issue with voltage supply or ground, the Red wires (voltage supply) or Brown wires (Chassis Ground).
Check your Gear-Selected LED and Gear-Selected PT-CAN display on lower Instrument Cluster when warning light appears.
