2011 328i BT/USB "Not Connected"

so i just bought a 328 with iDrive and when i pair my iPhone XS and go to external devices, it does not show my phone in the list as it shows "Not Connected" and the same thing for the USB in the center console. do i have to update the system ?

Have you checked the I-level of the car?
